| There are five types of character you can play, each with their own bonus' and limitations. Note: All characters can enter Contests and take on Gyms, but not every character can challenge the Elite Four or go into the Grand Festival. Trainers- Your goal is to take on the gym challenge and try to become the strongest Pokemon battler in the entire region. Bonuses- Can challenge the Elite Four
- Can re-challenge gyms
- Can befriend Pokemon more easily
Draw-backs- Cannot enter the Grand Festival
- Cannot breed no more than one egg per Pokemon, nor can they sell the egg
Breeders- Your goal is the breed as many Pokemon as possible. Bonuses- Can breed as many eggs per Pokemon as they like, and can sell the eggs
- More likely to find baby Pokemon (such as Pichu and Riolu)
- More likely to find a Pokemon with an Egg Move
Draw-Backs- Cannot challenge the Elite Four
- Cannot enter the Grand Festival
- Cannot re-challenge gyms
Coordinators- Your goal is to make the most appealing Pokemon in the region and win at the Grand Festival Bonuses- Can enter the Grand Festival
- Their pokeblocks/poffins taste better
Draw-Backs- Cannot challenge the Elite Four
- Cannot breed no more than one egg per Pokemon and cannot sell the egg
- Cannot re-challenge gyms
Researchers- Your goal is to see every Pokemon in the region and complete your Pokedex Bonuses- Are more likely to find rare Pokemon (this includes legendary Pokemon)
- Are more likely to meet famous professors, such as Oak, Elm, and Cypress.
Draw-Backs- Cannot challenge the Elite four
- Cannot re-challenge gyms
- Cannot enter the Grand Festival
- Cannot breed no more than three eggs per Pokemon, and cannot sell those eggs.
Rangers- Your goal is to help Pokemon and Pokemon tamers who need your help. Bonuses- Access to high ranked Missions and get higher rewards for completing missions
- Can use their stylus to temporarily capture Pokemon and the release them
Draw-Backs- Can only carry three activated pokeballs on them (Meaning their party is three rather than six) However, these Pokemon do not include the temporary Pokemon they capture with their Stylus
- Cannot challenge the Elite Four
- Cannot enter the Grand Festival
- Cannot re-challenge gyms
